Is there no Christian music on the level of Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd? I enjoy Daniel Amos, The 77s, Rich Mullins and a few others, but they aren’t nearly as good as Zep or Floyd and I can’t find any who are. Any thoughts on why that is?
Light – I listed the three Christian musical groups/artists that I feel stand out above the rest. Rich Mullins is my favorite Christian musician/songwriter and he has inspired me to seek Jesus like nobody else has. I’m just saying his music isn’t as good as Pink Floyd’s or Led Zeppelin’s. That isn’t diminishing his importance in the least.

I see many Christians saying they love everyone. One breath they say they love ********** people, the other they support prop 8. One breath they say they love atheists, the other they say atheists are fools. Many even talk about atheists as if they are subhuman, yet still say they love them.

Obviously not all Christians, but a good many of them.

Do they not understand that just saying you love someone doesn’t mean you actually love them? Love is a very strong word, why do you let yourselves throw it around so? Where are the actions and feelings coming from you that can even prove to yourself that you ‘love your enemies’?

Why take love so damn lightly, when your own Jesus took it so damn seriously? You throw the word about when you’ve given it absolutely no meaning, and it’s sickening. Thinking just because you say your love your enemies, or love sinners, non-believers, it means that you do and we should accept that you do.

I heard one Christian who is like this say today that ‘atheists are ungodly and have no love’ – but considering this, who has the love? Who can have love when they do not understand what it entails?

There are many truely loving Christians out there. How do you feel when you encounter a Christian throwing this word about, saying they love their enemies, but to them it is just a word and they think it has meaning simply because they use it?
No. True love involves compassion, empathy, understanding and respect. True love does not focus on pain, and the ‘toughness’, if needed, comes from the compassion, empathy, understanding and respect. Love is NOT just ‘being tough’ on someone.

This is PRECISELY what I mean. ‘Christian love’ seems to have NONE of the ingredients that come with love. It’s disturbing and wrong.
Jesus said to love your enemies, everyone. Many Christians say they follow this. That is all.
